Learning Beyond Registration
Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.
About this module
This module is designed to bring together systemic concepts and make links to practice. Key systemic models and frameworks will be visited in depth and considered in relation to the participants current practice base. Attention will be paid to the research and the development of evidence based practice and the critical evaluation of "evidence".
It is essential that the systemic student is able to demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the effects of gender, race, culture, disability, sexual orientation and other attributes commonly discriminated against, in their agency and in the wider context of society. This module also invites participants to consider the impact of national and local legislative frameworks, policies and procedures on their work.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate an awareness of a broad range of literature relating to systemic practice and family therapy from both past texts and contemporary writing in the field.
- Offer a critique of the theoretical concepts and their application to the context in which you work.
- Describe your understanding of the theories of change in relation to the models you have chosen.
- Demonstrate an ability to show commitment to actively promote ethical, anti-discriminatory practice and to highlight and critique culturally based assumptions
- Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate selected qualitative and quantitative research methods, recognising their strengths, limitations and contribution to the development of psychotherapeutic knowledge and practice.
