Facts about fees
Did you know that although the cost of going to university has risen, monthly repayments for students starting in 2012 will be less than they are for current students?
If you didn’t, that’s not surprising. The huge amount of information that’s available about fees can be very confusing.
We've taken the changes to tuition fees seriously and think it's important for you to have the facts before deciding whether university is the right choice for you.
So before you make your decision, make sure you’re clear about the facts:
- Fact: You don’t have to have thousands of pounds in the bank to be able to go to university. Your fees will be covered by a loan from the Student Loans Company.
- Fact: You won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £21,000 (but you can repay early if you like).
- Fact: If you never earn more than £21,000, you won’t pay anything back.
- Fact: You’ll pay back 9% of your salary over £21,000, regardless of how much your course costs.
- Fact: If you find yourself out of work at any point, your repayments will stop.
- Fact: After 30 years any outstanding debt will be written off.
- Fact: If you stay at home and study locally, you’ll save up to £13,500 on accommodation costs.
- Fact: All our courses are between £1,000 and £2,000 less than £9,000 per year and include all your essential equipment and activities.
