The cost of studying at Derby depends on the course you choose. Most universities have set the fees for all their courses at the £9,000 maximum. We haven’t done that.

We've four types of course, so we have four fee categories, which reflect the content, teaching methods, expertise and specialist equipment, facilities and field trips that you’ll need to complete the course.

Classroom based courses

£7,700 per year

These courses are mainly delivered conventionally in a lecture theatre or seminar room and don’t involve any specialist facilities or equipment. Around 40% of our courses are in this category.

Resource intensive courses

£8,250 per year

These courses involve additional activities, fieldtrips, equipment, materials, and/or specialist facilities. Almost 50% of our courses are in this category.

Specialist courses

£8,800 per year

These are a select group of courses where we have established a very strong reputation in a subject area. 10% of our courses are in this category.

Premium courses

£9,000 per year

Two courses are currently in this category BEd and PGCE.

All our fees are likely to be subject to annual inflationary increases.

Scholarships

We’ll have 300 scholarships available to help English undergraduate students from lower income households to pay for university.

Loans and grants available from the government

Full time English undergraduates will be able to get a range of financial support to help with their study and living costs.
