FAQs

Who can I speak to if I haven't studied for a long time?

At Derby, we believe that it’s never too late to learn and we can help you to achieve your goals – even if you have no formal qualifications. Find out more about our Access and Foundation courses.

How much time will I need to devote to study?

We know that most part time students are learning while they work, so we aim to be as flexible as possible. A lot of our courses will need you to come into University one day a week - or perhaps just an evening - but many are now also offered as online courses so you can study at work or at home whenever you like. When you've found the course you're interested in, get in touch with the relevant faculty and ask them about study times.

How much will studying cost?

This naturally depends on what you'd like to study, the qualification you want and how the course is taught. If you're already in work, your course could even be paid for by your employer. Ask them about any schemes they may offer. You may also be able to get help toward tuition costs from your local authority. Find out more about fees and financial help.
