The University of Derby Buxton, based in the beautiful spa town of Buxton on the edge of the Peak District National Park is a uniquely different experience. It’s surrounded by outstanding natural locations including;

The University also continues the town’s tradition as a centre of spa activity and relates it very much to the world of business through its International Spa Management degree delivered in a commercial spa facility on the campus.

Buxton’s links across the world

Since 1998, the University of Derby Buxton has built a successful partnership with the Swiss Education Group. The vision for this partnership is to develop world-class university institutions in the UK and Switzerland, specialising in high quality student centred experiential learning in tourism.

The Faculty has also worked closely with prominent employers with world-wide reputations, to develop cutting-edge qualifications for professionals in the events industry, including Capita Symonds and Showsec International Ltd.

Within the spa sector we have close links with Elemis, the leading spa product manufacturer, whilst in the sports field, we have provided consultancy services to Olympic, World and European sports champions, including Ryder Cup golfers.

Investment in our facilities

University students at Buxton can enjoy the benefits of a £1.4 million refurbishment of the Harpur Hill sports facility, equipped to support a variety of indoor sports, including netball, basketball, cricket, boxing and five-a-side football. A 58 acre outdoor leadership centre, developments in hospitality management, and many new developments in our programmes in the coming year.
