Request a Student Status or Council Tax Letter
From time to time you may need a letter to confirm that you are a student. There are 2 types of letter that we can produce for you:
Student Status Letter (also know as a Confirmation Letter)
A Student Status Letter can be used to open a bank account/apply for gym membership or a rail card, or any other student related discount.
Please Note: If you are an International student you should request a Student Status Letter from the International Student Centre, B001, B Block at Kedleston Road
Council Tax Certicate
As a student you may be entitled to exemption or a reduction in your council tax. If you are from a singe parent family your parent/carer may be entitled to a reduction in their council tax.
Students who have a term time address with a Derby postcode beginning with
DE1, DE3, DE21, DE22, DE23, DE24 or DE73
do not need a Council Tax certificate because Derby City Council will have been informed of your registration at the University of Derby.
You must contact Derby City Council yourself to make sure that you are on their list.
