National Health Services for overseas students
If you're staying in the country for more than six months then you're regarded as a resident of the United Kingdom (UK), which allows you to register for NHS care.
If you're staying in the UK for less than 6 months you will only be entitled to limited NHS treatment. You're entitled to free emergency hospital treatment, but only treatment given in an NHS Accident and Emergency department is free of charge. If you're admitted onto a ward or given an outpatient appointment, charges will apply.
If you don't qualify for NHS care you're advised to take out private health insurance to cover the cost of private care. You'll be expected to pay for your treatment and then reclaim the money back from your insurance company.
