» Dyslexia - 1st October 2012
Monday 1st October 1pm - 2.30pm
This workshop looks at the challenges and benefits of having Dyslexia, how to use the support available and thrive.
» How to financially survive university - 2nd October 2012
Tuesday 2nd October 2.30 - 4.30pm
You will look at how to make the most of your money, what financial help you are entitled to, and how to plan for a 'rainy day'.
» 7 Habits of successful students - 9th October 2012
Tuesday 9th October 12.30 - 2.30pm
Students previously designed a list of habits that have helped them to get the most from their time at University.
We are now using this list, and sharing their ideas, to help all students, of any ability and aptitude, to get more than they had hoped for from their University days
» Parents and Carers' Forum - 12th October 2012

Juggling caring responsibilites and the demands of University life can be exhausting!
This workshop offers a forum for conscientious sharing of ideas, some sign posting, relaxation and encouragement.
» Improve your health - improve your grades - 16th October 2012
Tuesday 16th October. 2.30pm - 4.30pm.
In this workshop we will explore what makes us feel good and able to concentrate on our studies and what might hold us back.
We will also look at how to do more of those things that boost our wellbeing and less of the things that seem to reduce our energy.
Through information, discussion and ideas you will have the opportunity to make your own plan to improve your health....and hopefully your grades.

This workshop is intended for all students experiencing the natural and sometimes difficult process of transition to university life.
We will look as a group at how we cope with new situations and what can help us adapt further.

Do you feel tired most of the time? Find it hard to concentrate? Sleeping too little or too much?
In this workshop we will explore what tires us out, and what keeps us awake - when we should be resting.
Through information, discussion and ideas you will gain ideas to help improve rest and energy levels.
» Managing the pressures - A workshop for International Students - 29th October 2012
Monday 29th October 2.30 - 4.00pm
There are many pressures on you as EU and international students, and additionally the process of adjustment to another country can take time.
You may feel it is hard for you to settle, concentrate and feel at your best.
If you would like to look further at the impact of moving from one culture to another, this workshop is for you.
Together we will explore the process of up-rooting and re-establishing in a different place and find ways to help you with this transition.

This workshop is designed to show students how to get the best out of Assistive Technology, in particular the MindGenius package. Ideal for those in receipt of DSA and also other students interested in seeing how it works - the package is available on computers in the KR library to all.

Sometimes our own self-doubt and self-criticism stops us from trying new ways of thinking about things.
In this workshop we will use art and drama to expand our creativity, and enjoy the confidence to be curious.

» Overcoming presentation anxiety - 14th November 2012
Wednesday 14th November 2 - 4.00pm.
Do you get anxious before presentations? Do you lose sleep? Feel panicky or dizzy? Want to avoid the presentation altogether? This 2 hour workshop will explore practical strategies to help you overcome anxiety and improve your performance. There will be opportunities for you to raise specific concerns about your own experience, if you wish to do so.
The workshop will include:
- Understanding anxiety - why do we get it?
- What happens when we become anxious?
- Making the presentation feel more achievable
- Working within groups
- The role of rehearsal strategies
- Techniques for delivering with confidence
- Relaxation and stress management techniques

When you're studying for exams do you ever read a page three times without taking in the words?
Ever gone into an exam and forgotten everything you've learned?
This 2 hour workshop will explore practical strategies to help you overcome exam anxiety and related stress.
There will be opportunity for you to raise specific concerns regarding your own experience of exam anxiety, if you wish to do so.
The workshop will include:
- Understanding anxiety - myths and outcomes.
- Revision and exam preparation that maximises self-belief
- Tackling exams effectively and confidently
- Trouble-shooting (e.g. strategies for dealing with mental block)
- Relaxation and stress management techniques

How to reduce stress in relationships.
This workshop offers ideas to help resolve conflict without compromising ourselves, and how this can inprove relationships.
» Moving on - the next steps
Beginning to think about and plan for the future can be daunting.
Are you in your final year (or this doesn't seem far off) and see the future as a big blank space? Do you feel unprepared for leaving university? Are you avoiding thinking too much about the future - or worried because everyone else seems sorted? Does the prospect of going back home to live terrify you?
We live in tough economic times, the job market is competitive yet it seems we should have numerous possibilities.
The workshop will help you with:
• Identifying what matters to you and what you could do about it
• Practising strategies to support decision-making and planning
• Exploring resources available to aid research
• Discussing and sharing with others, particular dilemmas and conundrums (or not)
• Having space to dream......
The workshop won't:
• Offer quick, easy answers
• Supply a list of rules to follow
• Put pressure on you
• Assume you know nothing
