Overcome exam anxiety

Do you experience exam anxiety? Does your mind go blank when you start an exam? Have you ever missed an exam or wished you could run away because of anxiety? Do you believe that you could get better grades in exams if it wasn't for anxiety?


Exam anxiety is a common phenomenon experienced by many students and it can prevent you from achieving to your academic potential.
However, it is possible to manage, reduce or get rid of exam anxiety completely, even if it's something that you've experienced for years.

Advice and guidance

On this website we provide advice and guidance on improving your preparation and sleep and lowering your anxiety prior to taking an exam.

One to one support

We can also provide you with one to one support in which one of our team will work with you (usually over 3-4 sessions) to reduce your anxiety and equip you with strategies to improve your exam performance. Podcasts

You may also wish to consider a project being undertaken by researchers at the University Psychology Department who are seeking student participants for a psychology study that is evaluating relaxation and compassion-focused imagery exercises as possible ways to help students cope with assessment-anxiety and improve their well-being. The study is funded by the University of Derby and is being carried out by Professor James Elander and Dr Kirsten McEwan.
