Sandra Baumgartena, International Business Management BA (Honours), Finance Assistant
How has the Student Employment Agency helped you?
I have had many different assignments through the SEA but my best experience was the opportunity I had to work as a Buddy during Welcome Week for the International Student Centre.
As an EU student it was great to see how much effort went into accommodating international and EU students. During this role I learnt how to communicate with people from different cultures. I had the task of organising different activities during that week. I found the experience invaluable and I was able to develop my time-management and organisational skills. This work helped to secure my current role as a Finance Assistant in the same department.
Would you recommend the Student Employment Agency to your friends?
I would strongly recommend all students register with the SEA. They offer a wide variety of jobs that will support you not just financially but also give you an opportunity to gain new skills.
Joy Lewis, Team Leader, International Student Centre said;
"It was a very demanding role during Welcome Week and Sandra approached it with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble for her and we had some great feedback from new students regarding her professionalism and enthusiastic manner."
Sandra went on to win the Institutional Winner for On Campus Student Employee of the Year Award 2012 in conjunction with the National Assocation of Student Employment Services.
