Robert Smart, History BA (Honours), Student Ambassador
How has the work you have done improved your employability skills?
Confidence, communication and personal belief are all very important skills, but the greatest skill I developed through from my work at the SEA is the ability to network successfully.Every work day is full of different people, that I have never met before.I grew from being shy and timid, to being able to talk freely with confidence to everyone.I was given the opportunity to manage ten plus ambassadors on tours at the open days ensuring consistent quality was maintained. During this time I was able to work closely with management which I whole-heartedly enjoyed. This experience I believe is invaluable in the modern work place.
Angela Drinkwater, Events Officer in the Marketing Department said;
"Rob is always a great asset to have working at these important recruitment events. He's reliable, shows great maturity amongst his fellow Student Ambassadors yet also seems to get along great with everyone and his hard work efforts have not gone unreported by visitors."
Rob went on to win the Institutional Winner for Job Shop Student Employee of the Year Award 2012 in conjunction with the National Association of Student Employment Services.
