I am currently the Programme Leader for the MSc Motorsport Engineering, BEng (Hons) Motorsport Engineering and BEng (Hons) Motorsport and Motorcycle Manufacturing Engineering programmes.
I teach the first year Applied Mathematics modules on the BEng (Hons) Motorsport, Motorcycle and Mechanical Engineering programmes. I also teach Power Train Engineering at both second and third year, and Internal Combustion Thermodynamics on the Masters programme.
I spent 8 years servicing and repairing road and race motorcycles for a Honda main dealer before taking up a teaching post in Automobile Engineering at Derby College where I was Curriculum Manager for Motorcycle Engineering programmes. I taught there for 15 years before coming to the University in October 2002, first as a lecturer in Motorsport, and then Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer in Automotive Engineering.
I am currently a member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, the Society of Operations Engineers and the Institute of the Motor Industry.
I have a MSc in Engineering, with a BSc in Applied Mathematics as well as a HNC in Automotive engineering
I hold Senior Technical Official, Measurer and Sound Inspector licences for the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) and have officiated at MotoGP, World Superbikes and British Superbikes competitions. I am also Chief Technical Officer for Drag-Bikes at Shakespeare County Raceway.
I have a scrutineers licence for the Motor Sports Association and currently act as a technical official for the Vintage Sports Car Club, Bentley Drivers Club and Hagley and District Light Car Club.
