Dr Charmalee Jayamaha
Position: Research Fellow in Electronic, Control & System Engineering
College: College of Engineering and Technology
Subject area: Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Research Centre: Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering
Charmalee joined the IISE as a Research Fellow, after graduating from the University of Nottingham with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During her Ph.D., Charmalee conducted both theoretical and experimental research on power electronics and control systems for grid integration of renewable energy resources and energy storage systems. This has also been extended to power system frequency detection and frequency control later in her studies.
At IISE, working closely with the Research Chair in Energy and Environment, Charmalee conducts and supports fundamental and applied research across a wide portfolio of funded projects from ERDF and EU Horizon 2020. The research projects are highly engaged with the industry from SMEs to multinationals and are aimed at providing cutting-edge solutions to technical challenges. The application areas include manufacturing engineering, medical engineering, and low carbon transportation.
Charmalee’s research interests include power electronics and control systems design, renewable power systems and product development.
