Position: Senior Lecturer
College: College of Health and Social Care
Department: Health Care Practice
Subject area: Nursing and Healthcare Practice
I am Senior Lecturer within the College of Health and Social Care. In addition, I am also Assistant Programme Lead and Admissions Tutor for the BSc Nursing (Adult) programme, at the Chesterfield campus.
I also have a role as Personal Tutor, supporting BSc Nursing students throughout their studies. I support students and mentors in the clinical practice setting within my role as a Link Tutor, at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
My teaching responsibilities sit mainly within the BSc Nursing programme.
I am module leader for the first year Level 4 module, Integrated Adult Nursing Practice 1. Within this module I help to develop students' confidence and comepetence with regards to a range of clinical skills that they are going to meet, when they go out into clinical practice.
My clinical background is in Critical Care and Coronary Care. After qualifying as a Registered Nurse I worked within this clinical setting, before taking up a post with the British Heart Foundation. Within this role I supported a national project looking to understand how certain medications can affect coronary function.
I have worked within Nurse Education since 2009, and very much enjoy supporting students and facilitating their learning journey.
My interests concern students and their experiences of learning in theory and practice. For my MA Dissertation I explored how literature can support understanding for Nursing Students.
