About

I am very privileged to be the Programme Leader for the BEd (Hons) with the QTS Programme here at The University of Derby. I have worked in Teacher Education for 11 years and have enjoyed a varied number of roles within the primary teaching team. My primary focus is leading a research-informed, current and interesting programme that allows all students to become critical, empowered thinkers.

Teaching responsibilities

I lead a number of modules across every year of the BEd (Hons) Programme and I am also part of the Lead Mentor team who support students whilst on teaching practice. Teaching students, young people and children is the most favourite part of my work and is I believe, pivotal to students having a fantastic learning experience on our programme.

Professional interests

Over the eleven years of working in Teacher Education I have had many professional interests. I am currently interested in how we design a BEd (Hons) Programme that ensures all students are prepared to teach in the ever changing landscape that is education. I have a passion for child-centred learning and how schools can create curriculums that support the development of the whole child.
