Teaching responsibilities
As a Senior Lecturer in Education Studies I have responsibility for leading the following modules: at Level 4 - Teaching, Learning and the Curriculum, at Level 6 - Mentoring and Coaching. At Level 7 I lecture on a range of modules. I also supervise a range of students as they develop their Independent Studies assignments.
Professional interests
My professional interests have developed over many years working within the Lifelong Learning Sector. Initially I developed and delivered administration courses to a range of students including school leavers and, largely disengaged, 14-16 year old groups who were released from school one day a week. Later I became a specialist in the management and delivery of National Vocational Qualifications. This led to an interest in the concept of Assessment and in particular high level involvement with Professional Development of Lifelong Learner Practitioners. These interests were strongly reflected in my responsibilities as Lecturer and my work for an Awarding Body as External Verifier. Within my role as Manager for Teacher Education I developed and delivered courses for Practitioners in the Lifelong Learning Sector and had responsibility for staff CPD. Latterly my involvement with the Lifelong Learning Sector has included delivering basic literacy skills within Prison Education.
Research interests
Whilst studying for my Masters in Educational Management I focussed on issues of quality within Further Education Colleges with specific focus on the assessment processes and practices used in National Vocational Qualifications.
