Nik has obtained his BA from the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens and completed his PhD and MA at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK.
Prior to his Professorship appointment at the School of Computing and Mathematics, he joined the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Bedfordshire as a Lecturer in 2001. In 2004 he was promoted to Senior Lecturer and the Postgraduate Course Manager and in 2009, he was promoted to a Principal Lecturer and took on the role of MSc Project co-ordination and University Extended Degrees Course Management.
Professor Bessis is now the Head of the Distributed and Intelligent Systems Research Group (DISYS) and the REF UOA11 Leader.
