Subject Area: Geography
Teaching on under- and post-graduate degree programme related to Development Studies and Social Geography. Particular interests are environmental concerns, food security, water management and project mangement in economically developing and transitional countries. Specialist PhD supervision focus is on poverty, especially gendered poverty in rural and urban areas of the developing world.
Research interests
Overlapping research interests/themes include:
- Gendered, poverty and livelihoods in developing countries, including urban slums India; agriculture production small-scale women farmers the Gambia, Uganda.
- Modification of food crops.
- Methodological, philosophical and ethical implications of teaching and research into gendered poverty in developing countries.
- Philosophies of geographical fieldwork.
- Lived experience of climate change. Rainwater harvesting and indigenous knowledge.
