I have responsibility for research and learning activities related to developing practice within the careers sector. This often involves working with national policy makers in addressing workforce development and continuing professional development strategy. I have most recently managed the following projects;
- The development of the Workforce Development Strategy and CPD Implementation Plan for Lifelong Learning UK.
- The Next Step Induction Programme for the Skills Funding Agency.
- The development of resources to support careers advisers providing advice and guidance to women around STEM careers.
- I am also Pathway Leader for the MA Education: Guidance Studies and Programme Leader for work-based learning programmes the centre deliver for Connexions Personal Advisers and for Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance for Schools.
- Developing and supporting the implementation of school based careers services in Sri Lanka
- Developing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study in career guidance with a European focus within the DICBDPEC Erasmus project.
Teaching responsibilities

Professional interests
I have a background in the guidance sector which encompasses more than twenty years working as a practitioner, trainer, manager and lecturer. My portfolio includes work on quality and CPD with a range of providers including the voluntary sector, higher education and prisons.
Research interests
My research interests focus on continuing professional development, professional identity of career guidance practitioners and the practitioner researcher.
