Experience in Industry

Since 2003 - Lecturer, Management and leadership development facilitator, individual and group coaching, coaching supervision and project worker.
Prior to 2002 - PA, Personnel, Banking and office management. As a mother having taken a career break to accommodate family needs I sensed it was time to find 'my place' again in a work organisation. I returned to full time postgraduate study in 2002 and as a mature student I found I was inspired to learn and teach.

Subject Area: Coaching

Programme Leader, MA Leadership Coaching Programme.

I work part time at the University to help me find a balance between applied knowledge and theory and accommodate my own professional development needs.

Teaching responsibilities

I have a varied responsibilities in the postgraduate studies education and social sciences team. For example, developing leadership coaches and mentors to demonstrate appropriate behaviours, attitude, knowledge and skills is at the heart of what I do. I believe their 'fitness to practice' means a lot more than coach or mentor training. This journey picks up with facilitating their exploration of topics like their own coaching philosophy and developing themselves as a reflective and self-aware practitioner. I also aim to bring my practitioner experience in coaching and management and leadership development in business to what the team delivers to institutions and corporate clients and in this capacity work in a facilitation role.

Professional interests

I have strong values and beliefs around ethical leadership and making the most significant positive difference for society (people, place and planet).

My interests include:

Persuading management of a performance driven mentality that it takes self leadership and effective relationship rather than ticking a box to maximise individual and institutional potential.

Working with leading professional coaching bodies to raise the bar for quality standards and programme accreditation in a currently competitive and commercially driven unregulated coaching industry.

The role of one's own narrative in the outcome of their learning and development.

Research interests

PhD research: I am currently exploring the role of emotion in learning relationships from an institutional perspective. As my professional experience expands, I am challenged by what I see and hear.

International Experience

Having lived and worked abroad and undertaken trans-national relocation, I am familiar with a variety of cultures.

Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees

Chartered MCIPD, Association for Coaching (AC) and European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), Senior Teaching Fellow Higher Education Academy
