Experience in Industry
I have always worked in the public and voluntary sectors.
From August 2003 - December 2006, I held public appointment as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Nottingham City Primary Care Trust where I chaired the Clinical Governance Committee and several other Working Groups etc, in addition to my other scrutiny/championing roles.

I work two days a week at the University, teaching the Aromatherapy and Aromatherapy Practice modules across the three years of the Complementary Therapies BA Hons degree programme.
I also act as the Stage 2 Leader to ensure that the interests and concerns of our second year undergraduate students are heard and addressed.
Professional interests
As a practising Aromatherapist, working in a number of locations, I have various professional interests: I specialise in treating clients with mental health issues and currently work at two different projects which are jointly funded by local government and NHS trusts. I've also worked with clients from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and have built up particular expertise in treating women through pregnancy and, most recently, in offering aromatherapy to obese clients. As an education professional, I teach a wide range of health-focused courses (many of which I have created) both as an independent teacher, and as a further education lecturer. I also belong to a collaborative of complementary practitioners called the Holistic Health Team which covers the whole of Nottinghamshire.
International Experience
I worked in healthcare in Saudi Arabia for 12 years between 1986 and 1998.
Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees
- I am a full member of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists, and hold their Principal Lecturer status.
- I am a full member of the Institute for Learning in my FE teaching capacity.
Additional Interests and Activities
Nutrition, yoga, aerobics, theatre-going, reading, horse riding, philosophy.
