I teach classes across a range of programmes including the FdA Children and Young People's Services, the BA (Hons) Child and Youth Studies and a module on the Masters programme.
I teach on a range of modules across the programmes and have developed modules including the Children's Workforce which is a module delivered at Masters level.
Professional interests
My professional interest is in providing the best kind of education based on international studies of Finland and other significant education systems.
Research interests
I have investigated the Role of Higher Level Teaching Assistants and explored through a Teaching Informed Research (TIR) the Early Years system in Finland (2008). I had an article published about Finland in the BERA Research Journal www.bera.ac.uk/publications/spring-2010.
I participated in a European Study visit to Brussels in 2010 and was one of the group reporters for the ECOTEC Study Visit in March (2010). In 2011 I worked collaboratively with Dr Des Hewitt and Charlie Davis at the University of Derby on a TIR investigating the potential uses of Skype in education following a successful project linking a school in England with a school in Saxony, Germany.
I am currently engaged in editing a book titled Exploring Childhood in a Comparative Context: An introductory guide for students. This book should be published in July 2013.
