I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Derby in 2002. I then went on to graduate with an MSc in Health Psychology also at the University of Derby in 2005. Following my studies I worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Psychopharmacology at the University of Nottingham between 2005 and 2008. In 2008 I began a PhD within the addiction research group at the University of Birmingham. I am currently in the final stages of writing my PhD thesis.
I am a new member of the psychology team, starting in November 2011. I work primarily in the field of Health Psychology and lecture at both undergraduate and MSc level. I also teach on a range of other modules including Biological Psychology, Fundamentals of Psychology and Research Methods and Analysis.
Research interests
Addictive behaviours and the impact of addiction on family members and significant others.
My PhD evaluated an evidence-based family-intervention to promote the inclusion of affected family members within routine addiction services.
