Experience in Industry

My career in education has been extensive since qualifying and working within the arena for fourteen years. I initially worked within a large and diverse secondary and post 16 centre in Derby city. I led a subject to A2 standard and additionally marked for an external examining board. My passion for student welfare and inclusion naturally led to a pastoral leadership role managing both staff and student concerns. I was fortunate to be nominated twice for independent teaching awards for my service and kindness to students and their families within this role.

I have also taught at a second establishment within Derbyshire and took curriculum leadership of one subject and designed a framework for implementation within a second. Governmental policy, directives and methods of deploying them for purposes of learning are areas in which I have professional excellence. To this extent I completed the Specialist Schools Academy Trust MLL course with a focus on Strategic Models and Implementation. As I have maintained a passion for teaching and learning I was proud to be nominated a third time in recognition of this and also to extend my professional working relationship with the University of Nottingham. I mentored within their P.G.C.E. course Secondary English, was invited to join their Advisory Panel and to associate lecture with them.
