I'm employed on a full-time basis as a Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Health and Social Degree Programme. I enjoy lecturing and have retained as much teaching time as possible given the amount of administration work that is involved in the role of Programme Leader. I'm therefore Module Leader for the following modules, Communication and Groupwork, The Psychology of Health and Development, Working with People in Health and Social Care Settings, Work Based Learning and Experience 2 and Work Based Learning and Experience 3 and I also have a teaching input in the modules A Basis for Interprofessional Practice and Counselling for Human Service Workers.A significant amount of my time is also spent as a Personal Tutor and visiting and assessing students on placement.
I also work closely with other Programmes such as Social Work , Foundation Degree in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and the Foundation Degree in Children and Young Peoples Services. Health and Social Care have a pathway on both of the Foundation Degree Programmes.

Professional interests
I'm a Committee member of BASW (British Association of Social Workers) and regularly attend meetings and seminars for the Derby branch. I also hold the CQSW,a professional qualification in Social Work and continue to be registered with the GSCC as well as being qualified as a Practice Teacher and Mentor Assessor. I'm soon to be interviewed for a voluntary position as a Panel Member on an adoption panel.
Research interests
I've recently obtained an MA in Education at the University of Derby and as part of the dissertation process undertook research relating to student's levels of emotional intelligence whilst undertaking Social Work training and education. At present I am researching staff awareness in relation to emotional awareness and the Social Work curriculum.
Additional Interests and Activities
Outside of work I am a season ticket holder for Derby County and spend most of my time at weekends watching my sons playing football and rugby. My youngest son is very excited the moment as he has been selected to play rugby for Staffordshire in partnership with Leicester Tigers so there will be even more matches to attend.
