Experience in Industry
I have worked at the University of Derby since 2006, before I worked in the International Student Centre (ISC) I worked for Aimhigher, as a Development and Activities Officer, working in schools and the University to help raise aspirations and attainment of young people from deprived backgrounds who would have had no previous experience within their families of university and the benefits that it offers.

I am the Team Leader in the International Student Centre (ISC). Myself and the team are responsible for the pastoral support of all international students both from the EU and overseas. I arrange a meet and greet service from four airports each semester for new students as well as a welcome week and orientation to help students settle into university life. In addition I work closely with the Programme Advisory service (PAS) on monitoring attendance of international studens and work closely with our international students' sponsors.
In the ISC we aim to help and support all our students throughout their university journey to ensure a good, successful university experience. In our team we have a Welfare Officer, Visa and Support Officer, and administration support who welcome and support students in many ways including writing letters for students for banks, police and a variety of different things. In addition, myself and the team help students to settle in by helping them find acccommodation, helping them to meet new people and make friends, nothing is too much in the ISC if it helps our international students have a good university experience.
