Experience in Industry
I worked for twenty years in practice as an Occupational Therapist accross a range of settings and roles in Health and Social Care in Somerset and Dorset culminating in a role as Head of Paediatric Occupational Therapy for West Dorset. Further positions as a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Brighton and Head of Academic Group - Rehabilitation and Health Sciences at Bournemouth Uniersity followed before I assumed my current role at the University of Derby.

As Head of the Subject Area I manage the staff and resources required to deliver our range of programmes.
Professional interests
I have extensive experience of curriculum development accross a range of allied health professions. I am keen to ensure that innovative learning and teaching methods are used to develop the skills of autonomous learners within our student body.
Research interests
My personal research interests are in promoting innovative learning and teaching, particularly in the developmentof staff in the implementation of online learning initiatives.
International Experience
I have experience of participating in and leading curriculum development intiatives within Europe.
Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees
I am an Occupational Therapist - (HPC registration ref. OT 07520) - and a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists. I am also currently Vice President and General Secretary of COHEHRE (the Consortium of Institutes of Higher Education in Health and Rehabilitation In Europe). This is an organisation based in Ghent, Belgium which promotes the development of internationalisation within higher education programmes accross Europe.
