I worked in the banking industry for 10 years.

I also have experience of working in the textile testing industry and the agricultural industry. I have several years experience of working in administration and quality.

Teaching responsibilities

Over the last 3 years I have delivered lectures on a wide range of modules including Alternative Schooling, Gifted and Talented, Learner Differences and Needs, Education for All: Myth or Reality and Social and Emotional Development. I am currently the module leader for What Is Education? (stage1), Skills for Learning (stage 1). I also supervise a range of Independent Studies. As Stage 1 tutor I have responsibility for the coordination and planning of all Stage 1 activities, including Induction and Enrolment, supporting and managing Student Representative meetings and discussions, as well as monitoring the academic progress of students.

Professional interests

I graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in English and Education Studies from the University of Derby. I have a strong background in the teaching of English and Education Studies, lecture across the Further and Higher Education sectors. Additionally, I have a keen interest in technology enhanced learning and the use and application of technology in a range of teaching and learning environment.

Research interests

My particular research interests consider the impact and influence of memory, collective memory and post-memory, I have completed a project that considered memory particularly in relation to holocaust literature. I am also interested in the impact of positionality and language on cultural diversity, values and belief.

Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees

I am a Member of the Institute for Learning and was awarded FHEA status in October 2011.
