Tom Craig currently teaches across both Film and Video Production, and Film and Television Studies. In 2010 and 2011 he was nominated for Derby University's 'Lecturer of the Year' award. Having taught Film, Media and Cultural Studies in Higher Education since 1997, he specialises in critical approaches to the Horror genre and is particularly interested in 1950s American Invasion Narratives.
His publications include:
- Four Gothic Tales (Leicester: The English Association, 1996)
- Review of 'The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp' in The Journal of Popular British Cinema Vol. 2 (London: Flicks Books, 1999)
- 'Ben Dover in Cyberspace: British pornographic films on the Internet' in The Journal of Popular British Cinema Vol. 3 (London: Flicks Books, 2000)

He is currently writing a book on national/transnational approaches to the horror genre with Dr Felix Thompson
In addition to his academic research Tom works as both a scriptwriter and producer. In 2009 he successfully premiered Sugar Drop (Dir. Sean Ford/Daniel Romero). Described as 'fantastic - true to life and poignant' (Lifescan), Sugardrop is the first film in the Bitter/Sweet Trilogy: a series of avant-garde horror shorts that are based on Tom's experience of living with diabetes. Since initial release, the project has attracted international media attention as well as widespread support from diabetes sufferers and healthcare providers worldwide
Tom is also involved in a number of community based, outward facing projects: In 2009 he oversaw the production of a documentary about St Osmund's Church in Derbyshire, and he is currently writing and producing a feature length documentary in partnership with the Derby West Indian Community Association.
Tom is presently developing two feature length film projects.
Tom Craig has made several recent appearances in both local and national press, television and radio
