In addition to teaching 10 modules across all three years of the undergraduate programme - see Teaching Responsibilities below - I am also the Programme Leader for American Studies (Single & Joint Hours).
Teaching responsibilities
I currently teach on the following modules:
Introduction to Hollywood Cinema; Reading American Literature; Introduction to American TV; American Popular Music; 1930s; Radiant Hour: Versions of Youth in American Literature & Film; American Television in the 1950s and 1960s; American Youth Cinema; Contesting Cultures; Contemporary American Cinema.
I will also be involved in the School of Humanities' forthcoming MA by Research.
Research interests
I have published articles and book chapters on/in the following:
MTV as a global media phenomenon; The Simpsons and the BBC; the three "ages" of Punk; American teen TV; British Pop Art; reggae "vs" America; British cinema and TV in their transatlantic context.
I am currently working on - what will hopefully be - a book-length cultural history of Brit-pop from the 1950s to the present.
Media experience
As a result of my essay on MTV as a global media phenomenon - which can be found on the web as well as in its original book form - I have been contacted several times by news organisations for "comment and opinion".
