Experience in Industry
I was fortunate enough to have played professional sports in the early part of my career. However, over the last ten years my focus has been shared between academia and the sports industry. My industry background includes working within strategic sport management, local authority sport development and private sector sport events and coaching industries.
Current Activities / Links with Industry
I am the Experiential Learning Lead for the Sport at University of Derby Buxton; this role is an essential part of the partnership that takes place between Higher Education and professional industry. The key activity of this role is to work closely with sports industry organisations to develop real world learning environments that will be embedded within the academic teaching curriculum.

Teaching responsibilities
I deliver the joint honors degree pathway of BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching and BSc (Hons) Sport Development programmes as well as the FdSc in Sports Coaching at the Buxton Campus of the University.

Media experience
I have been involved in recent media work with both national and regional broadcasters to discuss contemporary issues in sport.
Most recently I was asked by BBC Yorkshire radio to discuss the impact of the teachers strike on parents and the role that extra-curricular sport can play in aiding families through this period. The BBC interview was shortly followed with a similar pre-recorded interview that took place with Real Radio Yorkshire.
In 2012 I was invited by the regional BBC news (Look North) to take part in a pre-recorded shoot to discuss his views on the role of private sector sport in today's society following the Government cuts to public sector sport provision.
