I teach undergraduate, foundation and master degree courses in sports coaching and sport development.

Before joining University of Derby I have worked in leisuremanagement and the sport industry for over 15 years.

Prior to teaching at the University of Derby I worked as acoach educator and coach for British Cycling.

Teaching responsibilities

Introduction to sport coaching, performance analysis, principles and practiced of training, coaching disabled athletes, and sports development.

Programme leader for FdSc Sports Coaching.

Professional interests

The impact of sports strategies on local projects; how funding and volunteers can have a positive effect on the quality and quantity of structured coaching.

Research interests

I am currently studying for a PhD looking in thephysiological components of elite BMX riders. As part of this I am undertaking collaborative research with British Cycling, Brunel University, Liverpool John Moores University, University of Central Lancashire and the English Institute of Sport.
