Experience in Industry
I have worked in the NHS for several years as a nurse in general and vascular surgery, high dependency clinical nutrition, day surgery and as a colorectal specialist clinical educator and advanced scrub practitioner. I have developed general ward nursing skills as well as specialist pre-operative assessment, theatre and recovery skills before advancing my own practice by developing my competency in colorectal surgery.

I am a Senior Lecturer based on the Kedleston Road Campus, although I do travel up to the Chesterfield site from time to time. I teach both pre and post registration nursing students on the Advanced Diploma of Nursing Studies and the BSc Nursing courses and also on the MSc in Advanced Practice, specifically the Clinical Decision Making Module.
Professional interests
I have professional interests in clinical skills teaching, and clinical simulation. I have taught medical students for many years and so enjoy advanced practice, examination skills and clinical decision making.
I am interested in interprofessional learning, and have facilitated interprofessional groups from both the unversity of Derby and the University of Nottingham, as well as incorporating interprofessional learning modules into clinical preactice at the Royal Derby Hospital.

I am a full member of the Royal College of Nursing, the Association of Advanced Nurse Practitioner Educators, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
