I am programme leader for a number of different programmes, including all the joint honours sport related subject areas and the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching. I also oversee the Public Services provision at HE level. My teaching duties include historical and social modules as well as management and policy modules in the sports programmes up to masters level.

I'm also a member of the school quality and marketing committees as well as an external examiner for another HE institutions sports programmes.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach on a wide range of sports development related modules at first and second year levels. I teach management modules from first year degree to postgraduate level. I also teach martial arts related modules in the areas of coaching and philosophy.

Professional interests

Sports regeneration and management; martial arts; sustainability and the impact on the environment of sport and sports tourism.

Research interests

Currently, my key research area is how martial arts can impact on the curriculum within schools and post-school provision. I am also interested in stadia moves and the social consequences of these moves to both interested populations.

Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees

I'm a member of the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management and the Institute of Sports, Parks and Leisure Management.

I am a keen martial artist who has been practising for 37 years and a black belt in both Karate and Kickboxing. I'm also a Krav Maga instructor.
