Teaching responsibilities

I teach on the BA Creative Writing programme and the MA in Humanities.

Professional interests

Since 2004 I have been the Editor of the poetry journal Poetry Nottingham which in 2009 was rebranded as ASSENT and secured funding from the University's Humanities department. Other freelance literary activities have included: membership of Editorial Board and Reviews Editor for Staple Magazine; Nottinghamshire Poet Laureate; publication of poems,  poetry reviews and critical essays in  London Magazine, Acumen, Critical Survey, Staple, The Swansea Review, Tears in the Fence, Other Poetry, Orbis, Rialto, Smiths Knoll, The Interpreter's House and many other places in the literary press.

Research interests

A recent pamphlet of poems,Bed Time Reading, published on the Litter website of Leafe Press and presented to the Universities Conflict and Identity Research Group, addresses the act of re-reading works from the canon of British and World Literature and will form the centrepiece of a new poetry collection currently in preparation and to be published by Five Leaves Press in Summer 2011.

Additional Interests and Activities

I am also employed as an Associate lecturer on the Creative and Professional Writing Programme at Nottingham University.
