I currently lecturer across both the Joint Honours and Foundation Degree pathways in sports coaching at the Buxton Campus. I lecture on a number of anatomy and physiology based modules. I am module leader for Physiological Principles of Sport and Exercise Science and Posture and Ergonomics and also a module tutor for Anatomy and Physiology, Physiology of Sport and Exercise and Acquisition of Skill.
Professional interests
I am a chartered physiotherapist with interests in sports injury rehabilitation. I have worked in both NHS and private settings with a variety of patient populations. Most recently before joining the team at University of Derby I worked at the Sports Injury Clinic at Sheffield Hallam University working with scholarship and professional athletes focusing primarily on preventative and performance enhancement physiotherapy as well as more traditional injury rehabilitation.
Research interests
My research interests revolve around functional stability and sports performance.
Current projects include:
- Correlations between functional movement screening and athletic performance indicators
- Self-selected exercise intensity during novel exercise with athletes with learning disabilities
- Single subject design case studies regarding functional movement and enhanced athletic performance.
