Teaching responsibilities
As a Lecturer in Education Studies, I have responsibility for leading the following modules:
Comparative Education (Stage 1) and Education Development and Underdevelopment (Stage 3).
I also supervise a range of Independent Studies. Additionally, I teach on a number of other modules including; Skills for Learning, Social and Emotional Development, Research Methods, Lifelong Learning and Learning and Motivation.
Professional interests
Having lived abroad and taught students from culturally diverse backgrounds for many years, I am interested in all aspects of international education. I have recently been appointed the Erasmus Exchange tutor for the Education Studies programme. I have also completed my Master's degree in Education; my dissertation focussed on the intercultural competence of academic staff.
Using this knowledge base, I plan to further develop my academic experience through undertaking doctoral work.
Research interests
Recent research projects have centred on the internationalisation of higher education. Specifically, I am interested in how the needs of both European and international students can be met through various academic support mechanisms and inclusive teaching strategies.
Currently, I am undertaking a research project titled' Meeting Student Expectations: Providing Subject Specific Academic Glossaries in Education'.
