Professional interests
My critical practice extends across a variety of creative media, including archival research, writing on photography, producing visual imagery and curating exhibitions.
I have a PhD in Photography History and Theory, and contribute regularly to photographic journals and magazines, as well as exhibition catalogues, encyclopaedias and photo-books.
Between 2003-8 I acted as curator of the Royal Photographic Society Collection at the National Media Museum. Exhibitions include 'Faking It: Between Art Photography and Advertising (2004) and 'A Tale of Two Cities: London and New York (2006).
I have taught in HE since 1997.
Research interests
I am currently collaborating with Christine Parker and Stephen Watson on 'Quickening' - a series of digital, life-sized film-portraits that explore the moment between life and death, movement and arrest in photography and film.
