Experience in Industry
My industry experience precedes the position at the Universty of Derby, when I worked as a Marketing Consultant for a range of blue-chip organisations (e.g. Pedigree Petfoods, Weetabix, Plysu, Hunting Oil etc.). Prior to this I was employed as Marketing Manager at a computer peripheral company (Datatrade Northampton), where I was responsible for all aspects of marketing.
Projects carried out whilst at the University of Derby include a "Usage Study of Green Spaces" for Derby City Management Team, an Expectation and Satisfaction Study for Trent busses, Analysis of service delivery and development of Blue-print for a regional firm of lawyers.
My work as psychotherapist and volunteer for Derbyshire Rape Crisis has given me a solid grounding in the mental health service/ sector and volunteering at the National Stone Centre has provided me with insights into Not for Profit organisations engaged in the area of leisure, museums and in the arts.

Supporting the Faculty and School vision
I consider it my responsibility as senior lecturer to develop programmes, modules and sessions that engage students and to provide up-to-date and relevant material to each customer group. Wherever possible, I try to create assessments that link in with the needs of local organisations in order to provide our students with a real-life context for their learning. One such project resulted in a staff excellence award.
I also encourage students to take ownership of their learning and provide opportunities to discuss their learning both through extensive email contacts and during student drop-in sessions.
