Before entering education I managed a conference and incentive travel department specialising in conference and incentives, and trade fairs and exhibitions.

I currently work with a number of employers including Elemis and the School of Artisan Food.

Teaching responsibilities

My subject knowledge is travel and tourism.

Professional interests

My professional interests include the development curriculum models that support vocational learning and provide opportunities for students to learn how to transfer knowledge in context to provide better prepared graduates for industry. I have been involved in developing experiential learning opportunities to support professional develop and provide students with experiences that support employability.

I have led the development of spa management as a subject area in higher education.

Research interests

My research interests include the relationship between industry and higher education in the development of curriculum and the different use of knowledge in the workplace. I am particularly interested in the impact spa graduates have on spa businesses

International Experience

I work closely with the Swiss Education Group, Switzerland's leading Hotel Management Group including the Swiss Hotel Management School and IHTTI providing world class education for students from around the world.

Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees

  • Member of the Higher Education Academy as a registered practitioner.
  • Chair of the Association of Spa, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy in Higher Education.
