Experience in Industry

I have a significant amount of experience providing expert consultancy services to various sport, health and physical activity agencies and organisations. I am also currently a Director with British Curling, the organisation responsible for teams that represent Great Britain in the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Faculty: Education, Health and Sciences

School: School of Science

I am an Assistant Dean within the Faculty of Education, Health and Sciences, with responsibilty for International Development, Employer Engagement and Income Generation. I am also Head of the School of Science within the Faculty. I have been at the University since March 2010.

Professional interests

My academic background is in Human Kinetics/Sport Science, with emphasis at the postgraduate level on adapted physical activity/disability sport. I have worked within higher education institutions for the past 15 years teaching across a range of discipline areas within Sport Science, with research interests focused on skill acquisition, physical fitness and physical activity patterns among persons with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, I have a significant amount of experience with sport organisation board governance, having served as a Director and Chairperson for various sport governing bodies. As my career has evolved, I have become more engaged in areas associated with leadership and management in higher education, with particular interest in issues associated with internationalisation.

International Experience

During my academic career, I have had the opportunity to work internationally (Canada, United States, Morocco, United Kingdom) within a wide range of university environments. My current role involves leading on international activities within the Faculty such as student recruitment, collaborative partnerships, and internationalisation of the curriculum and student experience.
