Lecturer in the L4LW/Learning Support Department at the University of Derby Buxton, working with adults having learning difficulties and disabilities.

Teaching responsibilities

Certificate and diploma work with adults having learning difficulties and disabilities, in Life Skills and SfLLN (Skills for Language, Literacy & Numeracy)

Also, support for colleagues in their professional development - including mentoring on the LTW, BA (Hons) programme and MA degree programme (eg for colleagues studying aspects of learning disabilities).

Professional interests

The embedding of Skills for Life into the Department's curricular programmes (including diagnostic assessment at pre-entry level).

Research interests

  • Interested in research into the general academic and reading development of adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Peer reviewer for the British Journal of Learning Disabilities.
  • Peer reviewer for the British Educational Research Journal.
