I am currently a Lecturer in Psychology.
Teaching responsibilities
I teach mainly Social Psychology, qualitative research methods and 'Gender and Psychology'.
Research interests
I currently co-ordinate the Social Psychology Research Cluster. My research interests include:
- Constructions of masculinities within military culture.
- Exploring the transition military personnel experience as a result of injury through focusing on issues of gender, identity and embodiment.
- Exploring the transition individuals experience on migrating to another country, drawing on the notion of symbolic resources and cultural identity development.
- The role of food and alcohol in the development of gendered identities.
International Experience
I was a Senior Researcher and Director of Qualitative Research Methods at the University College Dublin Geary Institute, Republic of Ireland from 2007 to 2009
