Subject Area: Psychology

I am one of the lecturers on the online MSc Ergonomics programme. I am also the Principal Investigator on a 21 month IOSH funded research programme investigating behaviour change.

Teaching responsibilities

I am currently responsible for the supervision of a number of Masters Projects; recent areas for investigation include Human Reliability; Participatory Ergonomics & MSDs; and interventions for Occupational Shoulder Pain.

Professional interests

In addition to my work here at Derby, I work as a consultant at Human Applications http://www.humanapps.co.uk/. We provide advice and training in risk management.

Research interests

My research interests have largely been for ergonomics/human factors within a health and safety environment. In 2011 we won a research grant from IOSH looking at behaviour change techniques and break taking within an office environment. This research will run until the summer of 2013.

Membership of professional bodies and advisory committees

I am a Registered member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF) and currently hold the office of Chair of the Professional Affairs Board.
