Why choose this course?

  • If you've already completed our Certificate in Sports Coaching course, then this is the course for you. You'll build on the skills and knowledge you've already gained, so you're ready to begin your career in the sports industry.
  • You can focus on your own discipline such as Golf or a specific Martial Art, and you'll gain all the knowledge and skills you need to start sports coaching in your chosen area.
  • We've developed this programme alongside professionals from governing and representative bodies'. We've been made a World Centre of Excellence by the World Martial Arts Council.
  • You'll be taught by our experienced tutors who have coached Olympic, World, European, Commonwealth and Ryder Cup Champions. You will also have the chance to learn from elite athletes and their coaches.

About the course

On this course you'll gain a clear understanding of coaching and sports science principles. You'll learn how to critically evaluate coaches and their environments, and you'll be able to apply the knowledge you gain from elite coaches and sports science practitioners.

Helping your career

You'll have all the skills you need to work in sports coaching, and you'll be qualified to assist other coaches in elite performance programmes. As a sports coach you'll be able to help sports participants develop their skills and fulfil their potential. As you gain experience and qualifications, you could move into lecturing, sports development, management or administration.

You could also go on to study for higher postgraduate qualifications, such as the University of Derby MSc in Sports Coaching.
