The strength and conditioning room is a world class facility and we are really happy to be able to offer it to professional sports teams like Derbyshire County Cricket Club to use. We hope it helps them achieve their optimal cricket performance.

We hope to have played a part in a great season for Derbyshire County Cricket Club after we hosted a pre-season training session for some of the club's key players this week.
Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC) took up the offer to use our Strength and Conditioning room. The club's Strength and Conditioning coach, Luke Storey, led players Steffan Jones, Jonathan Clare, Luke Sutton and Ross Whiteley in a full body workout using the room's heavy weights and specialist equipment.
John Morris, DCCC's Head of Cricket, also came along to see the team use the facility.
He said: "It's useful for our players to mix up their training in the off-season, which is why we took up the offer of using this room with its sports training equipment.
"The players have been doing a lot in the gym during the winter, and this strength and conditioning session will certainly help them prepare for our pre-season tour of Barbados and our first match of the season which takes place in April."
Dr Peter Jones, the Head of Sport and Exercise here at Derby, said: "The strength and conditioning room is a world class facility and we are really happy to be able to offer it to professional sports teams like Derbyshire County Cricket Club to use. We hope it helps them achieve their optimal cricket performance."
We have strong links with DCCC through our Sport and Exercise (BSc) degree programme, and through academics and Team Derby. For example, we have a scholarship course which gives DCCC's academy players the opportunity to study on our programmes. In return, DCCC allows the University's Cricket Club to use its excellent indoor facilities to train. This has resulted in a vast improvement in the University club's performance, which was evident in last year's British Universities and Colleges Sport League, when Derby gained promotion.
