Luke Gatis is currently studying BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science and is currently completing an internship at Sheffield United Football Club.
Luke's internship
After starting his internship as a Football Coach, Luke is now working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the club. Luke said: "I originally got an internship as a Football Coach as part of my coaching module on the course. The club established that I did not want to be a Football Coach but a Strength and Conditioning Coach - this led to me having an interview with the Sports Science department and I managed to secure a place on the Sheffield United internship programme."
How has this course helped you?
"I have been here for seven months and spend around 25 hours a week dealing with all aspects of strength and conditioning. The theory I have learnt has been invaluable in the application into a practical elite performance environment. I hope to gain a full time contract at the club or any other elite club in the football and rugby fields."
