Nicola Thorpe - BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science graduate

Nicola Thorpe

"I took a three year course in Sports and Exercise Science at Derby in 2006. There were many different aspects of the course that I enjoyed. It was nice to have a mix of classroom based sessions and 'hands on', practical lessons too. Particular modules that I liked included Drugs in Sport, Nutrition and Exercise and Health. My favourite module overall was Sports Therapy that included aspects of sports massage and physiotherapy.

When I had graduated from the course I was pleased to start working for England Netball in August 2009. I am a Netball Development Officer covering Nottinghamshire. My main role is to get more people playing netball. I work closely with clubs, schools and other partners. My degree definitely helped me to get the job and there are many aspects that I learnt on the course that I use in my job day to day."
