What our students say - Psychology - University of Derby

What our students say

Deborah Doherty The enthusiasm of the lecturers is infectious. They are experts in their field and we have covered areas of psychology that I hadn't even considered before.

Shaista Laher, BSc (Hons) Psychology

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year of studying psychology; I have learnt a lot of interesting workings of many psychologists and their theories. I have enjoyed it a lot as the lecturers have been really supportive and approachable and have always been happy to help, which gave me a lot of confidence."

Stephanie Archer, MSc Health Psychology

"I thoroughly enjoyed studying Health Psychology at the University of Derby. The lecturers were friendly and helpful in every aspect of the course from application through to the submission of my final independent project. I enjoyed the range of different modules, and even though I was apprehensive about being able to complete some aspects of the course when I first started. I found that I was able to expand my knowledge throughout the taught classes and through the suggested independent reading."

Stephanie went on to graduate from Derby in 2013 with her PhD, ‘Treatment beyond Treatment’. She currently holds a position as a researcher at University College London.

Emma-Louise Randall, MSc Health Psychology, 2013/14

"I found the course at Derby very interesting and stimulating, as it was a different style of studying to undergraduate. I particularly enjoyed having the opportunity to conduct three pieces of research throughout the course. I loved the fact  that some of the coursework involved applying health psychology theory and knowledge to real life situations, such as writing case studies and planning interventions. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and are supportive of research ideas that are less conventional and more integrative of health psychology and other disciplines. I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering doing a masters in health psychology."
