Dr Rebecca Knibb: Labeling of products containing allergens

The main aim of this study is to explore the way in which food allergic and non-food allergic consumers examine labels on food packages and how they interpret the information. It received internal funding from the Allied Health Grant Scheme and is being conducted with the help of two research assistants, Richard Smedley and Abby McCormack. Dr Rebecca Knibb: Quality of life in children with nut allergy and their mothers before and after oral food challenge

This study is being conducted in collaboration with Dr Jane Lucas and Rosemary King at the Wellcome Trust Research Centre at Southampton General Hospital. The aim of the project is to investigate the affect a food challenge may have on children with nut allergy and their mothers. Quality of life, anxiety and stress of mothers and children (aged 8-16) is being measured prior to food challenge, at the time of the food challenge and three months after food challenge to assess changes over time. The affect of negative and positive food challenges on children and mothers are being compared, as are data on whether nuts have been reintroduced into the diet or not. For more information contact Dr Rebecca Knibb.

Dr Rebecca Knibb and Dr Steve Croker: Children's and adults' understanding of food allergy

This project aims to look at knowledge of food allergy and reasoning about food allergy symptoms in both children and adults, with and without food allergy. A pilot study is currently being run and an ESRC grant application for a larger study will be submitted later this year. For more information contact Dr Rebecca Knibb.

Dr Steve Croker: Reasoning about oral health

The reasoning about oral health project is a collaboration between Steve Croker and Heather Buchanan, of Nottingham University that focuses on children's and adults' understandings of and reasoning about oral health behaviours. For more information contact Dr Steve Croker.
